Familiar Faces

In one of my many decorating magazines, I came across a DIY project that caught my eye. The article showed how you can find cheap picture frames at your local thrift shop, paint them any colour you want and fill them with your own art. This sounded like a fun little project. So I ripped the article out of my magazine and carried it around in my purse for weeks. Eventually, after a couple visits to my local Salvation Army (thrift shop), I had spent $17.00 and I had enough frames to get started.

After much thought as to what I should put in the picture frames, I decided on putting pictures of my Grandparents and my boyfriends Grandparents in them. I have a very special bond with my Mom's parents. They are both really interesting, lovely people. My Grandpa fought in WWII and my Grandma was a war bride from England. Even at the age of 84 my Grandma is a beautiful, spunky lady. And my Grandpa grows even more and more in love with her every day! They have so many amazing, old photos of themselves so I thought they would be perfect for my frames. White was an obvious colour choice for me for the paint.

I put a picture of my boyfriends Grandpa's boat in there to tie in my love for the ocean and the beachy theme I have in the house. So here is my picture wall so far. It is definitely a work in progress though. I want to continue building on it and add more frames and pictures. I am really keeping my eye out for some oval frames too.

Bye for now,

Jessica

love it jess! And all the sentimental value it has! It's a great homage to grandma and grandpa! I want to do something similar in our house

love the look and how sweetly sentimental it is! i did something similar in a small half bath we have. i could use that as a post considering i have not a single spare moment for something new right now. :/

can't tell you how thrilled i am you're blogging too! :) welcome to the club lovely.
