Camera...check!

For those who have been following me since the beginning, you may remember me posting about my wish list. The item on the top of that wish list was an SLR digital camera like my sisters. I have a basic point and shoot but I found it just wasn't doing the trick for my furniture and clothing posts. I have been drooling over the Canon Rebel T1i for sooo long.

Yesterday my boyfriend took me on a little outing to go pick one out! My birthday isn't for another 11 days but it snowed on Friday for the first time this year so he thought this would be the perfect weekend for my early Birthday present. I can now check it off my list :)

As you can tell from the picture above, I am super excited! I have read the manual front to back and watched some You Tube tutorials so I should have it figured out in no time. I am looking forward to the quality of the pictures in my blog posts getting so much better. If you have a Canon Rebel, I would love any tips or pointers.

Thank you so much to the most amazing boyfriend a girl could ask for. You are the man I used to close my eyes and day dream about finding one day. Who knew that reality could turn out even better than dreams.

YAAAAY! Welcome to the world of beautiful photos! Ian is SO thoughtful and so good to you :) I'm glad he knows how to make my sister smile! The only tip I can think of right now is when you are taking a pic in a room with bright light shining through the windows slowly push the shutter button and focus on a dark area of the room till it focusses then move the camera up to the area you want to take the photo of, then finish pressing the button all the way to take the photo...that way the light coming throught the window won't overtake the photo and make everything look too bright you can't see details :)
Love you!!!

Oh Jessica! Happy Early Birthday and Congrats!!

What a great gift from a great boyfriend. I've been wanting an SLR myself, but no clue how to use it so it will be fun to watch your journey. If my lucky day ever comes hopefully you can give me a tip or two. By then you should be an expert!!

xoxo,
Carrie

How exciting! You will love the Rebel. It is a huge change from a point and shoot. Have a fabulous time!

My tip: when you're ready to play with shooting on manual, check out 'Understanding Exposure' by Bryan Peterson. It's really helpful!

My hubby just bought me a Canon Rebel for Christmas! I am having so much fun shooting with it! I will have to check out some tutorials. There was a book I saw on Simple Thoughts blog that looked really helpful too. Did the instruction manual help much?? I was wanting a Canon eos 50d..I think mine is called the eos 1000d rebel xs. I researched both of them and really the differenes are very minor, so we shall see! Post some pics you take with it!! :)
