She's Groovy Baby!

A couple weeks ago my hilarious friend Trish was going to a 60's party. Since we work together, she knows I have backcombing (my super thin hair) down to a science! She asked if I could take her back to the future and give her a 60's makeover. I was more than excited!!

Here was my canvas :) She is a natural beauty who doesn't wear much makeup...so I was SO excited to attack those beautiful eyes with my liquid eyeliner! Trish and I work together 5 days a week. We also do yoga together and hang out on weekends. I see more of her than anyone...even my boyfriend or my parents and I love every minute of it!

I used my Revlon Color stay foundation on her skin and a little NARS bronzer. My sister introduced me to Revlon Color stay and in my opinion, it is by far the best foundation! As promised, I attacked her eyes with Maybelline liquid eyeliner. Lastly, I gave her a peachy lip with a little gloss.

Look at that sass lol! By the end of it, she reminded me of a Femebot from Austin Powers. Just beautiful Trishy :)

VV Boutique...

Ok...it's not technically called VV Boutique, it's official name is Value Village but I love it just the same. Like most ladies, I LOVE to shop. Luckily for me I don't like to spend a lot of money. This is where Value Village and other thrift shops come in...

I am sure every woman has had those days where they stand in front of their closet overflowing with clothes and think "I have nothing to wear!!". Whether you are having one of those moments or just having a bad day, there is nothing like a little thrift shopping to pick up your spirits.

I thought I would share some of my most recent frugal fashion finds! I am apologizing in advance for my lame attempt at modeling LOL.

I found this jacket at Value Village and it has quickly become my all time favourite! I will be getting tons of wear out of it this winter. I love the military style buttons and collar and the length is perfect! With a price tag of $9.99...I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

I scored the jeans at Winners. They are Guess Skinny jeans. They were a bit pricier than I would like at $50.00 but they are SO worth it. They are by far the most comfortable jeans (besides my HUE jeggins) that I own.
My boots were a bit of a splurge; they are Michael Kors. I will wear these boots until the soles wear out (and even then I will probably just get them replaced). They are so comfortable and versatile.
I know...don't quit my day job and try my hand at modeling lol. I got these suede boots at Value Village for $9.99. I had my eye out for a cute pair of black slouchy boots since last winter! Yay, I finally found some in my price range ;)
I picked up this sweater at Value Village for $5.99. It is SO warm and cozy but nice enough to wear to my office job.

My trick for shopping at thrift shops is to grab a cart and work your way through the aisles. I like to have an idea of what I am looking for before I go in there so I am not too overwhelmed. I cruise through the aisles throwing anything and everything that catches my eye into my cart. When I am finished I narrow it down by trying everything on.
I delivered a couple pieces to a wonderful client last week so stay tuned for some more before and afters. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Frilly Lilly

I have been eagerly anticipating this post for a while now. I am SO excited to finally share these pictures with you! Ok first off... a bit of background :) A while back I was contacted by a lovely woman Alana. She was opening her very own Frilly Lilly store in Yaletown. She had seen my furniture on my blog and wanted a couple pieces for her store.

Frilly Lilly is such a dreamy feminine shop! They offer waxing, tinting, manicures and pedicures, beautiful jewelry as well as bath products that look and smell so yummy, you may be tempted to eat them!! This place is true heaven for any girly girl.

Here is one of my pieces! I swear I was like a proud Mommy looking at these photos. I was so excited to have some of my pieces in such a neat shop. I love the stand with all the products too; it reminds me of a cake stand.

Here are some of those yummy bath products I was talking about. I just love how all of their products either look or smell like dessert!

This is the pedicure station I believe. I saw this before any of the tiling or pillows and it turned out so perfect! I would definitely get a pedicure here :)

I painted the china cabinet above. I used a creamy white paint and finished the back with light blue and cream paisley wall paper. I only distressed this piece slightly to keep with the overall theme of the rest of the furniture in the shop.

It looks so great with all of the products in it! I included a before picture of the china cabinet for you all to see.
I owe a big thank you to Alana at Frilly Lilly. It is such an honour to have my pieces in your shop. If any of you are ever in Yaletown, make sure to stop in! Oh...and I would also like to say a BIG thank you to my friend/delivery girl Krystal. We packed up her husbands truck with all of this furniture and she drove me over on the ferry to Vancouver for the delivery! What a good friend.

Personal Touches

It is one of my best friends Birthday tomorrow. If you are reading this...Happy Birthday Sandi! My friend Krystal and I decided to do something a little different for her gift this year. We decided to get crafty and make her a necklace.

Sandi is such a special person who in her 26 years on earth has been through more than most should go through in a life time. Yet somehow she manages to keep a smile on her face. Sandi loves to laugh, loves to dance (she owns a dance studio) and LOVES her Lab Teo.

She was so easy to make a personalized necklace for because she just loves life! I think it turned out really well and I hope she likes it!

I am running the risk of spoiling the surprise because Krystal and I are giving it to her tonight.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend,

Back in Action

I'm back! I was so happy when I heard that my computer was going to make it :) Just in time for me to share some of my spoooky Halloween decorations!

I am such a sun goddess and would be happy if earth only had one season...summer! But for some reason I have really been embracing the fall. I love the sound of the rain drops, the colours of the leaves falling, Thanksgiving (for those Canadians out there), pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks and of course Halloween!

I recently took a trip to my local craft store and found some amazing Martha Stewart decorations. This was my first year decorating for Halloween so I tried REALLY hard to keep it to a minimum. This was more difficult than it sounds; at first I went a bit overboard and realized my house was starting to look like a haunted house at fairs lol.

I have now developed this obsession with crows; they are so spooky for some reason. I will be buying tons more next year. I carved my pumpkin way to early so it has already wrinkled :( Oh well, that gives me an excuse to carve some more!

I hope all of my Canadian friends out there had a lovely Thanksgiving long weekend. I did lots of painting so stay tuned for pictures.

Distance Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

I truly hope that you all have not forgotten about me. My computer died :( Not only does this mean that I can not update my blog but it also means that I can't even check out my favourite blogs. Luckily my sweet boyfriend dropped the computer off at the shop so I should be back up and running in no time. In the mean time...I hope that this time apart has made you love me even more ;)

I discovered something so romantic the other day and I just had to share. My Dad is away in Toronto for a week on business. I went over to his awesome wife Leah's house last night to carve pumpkins and do some Halloween decorating (pictures coming soon).

When I walked into their house, I was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful smell of Lillies and roses. I turned the corner only to see these amazingly beautiful bouquets of flowers. (Because I can't download pictures onto my computer, I had to take the following pictures with my iPhone.)

Turns out my Dad has sent his wife a bouquet for every day he has been gone. Pretty proud of my Papa for being such a romantic :) He is gone for one more day so I can't wait to see tomorrows flowers.

Feel free to 'accidentally' leave this post open on your computers at home for all those men to see!!

On another note: I am pretty excited because I picked up a side table and mirror from a client last weekend and I am working on them slowly but surely. I remembered to take before pictures so I will post them asap.
